Gaviscon Original Range

Gaviscon Original product range was the first remedy of its kind available in the UK.

Contains as active ingredients:

  • Sodium alginate
  • Sodium bicarbonate
  • Calcium carbonate

How does it work?

  • Gaviscon Original products form a 'raft' over the stomach contents which helps prevent acid coming back up into the oesophagus (food pipe)
  • As such it is effective at treating the classic symptoms of heartburn (a burning pain in the chest and mild acid regurgitation)

Gaviscon Original liquid has a soothing effect, lasting for up to four hours. And because it works physically (rather than by entering the bloodstream) it is suitable for use in pregnancy.
